Who are we?

Couture is a young bootstrapped Japan based startup with global ambitions. We have self-funded for roughly 1 year while building the product and are now raising a seed round. Japan is still the world’s second largest advertising market at $62bn, yet less than %20 is spent on digital marketing. Influencer marketing is exploding globally but delivering a message and effectively reaching consumers is still a deeply local affair. We are at the crossroads of being a marketplace connecting people, an analytics tool and a multi-lingual content management platform. We work with both global and local consumer and luxury brands, advertising and marketing agencies seeking social influencers to promote products & branded content or participate in events and castings.

What do we do?

We connect global brands with local influencers through our unique platform which simplifies & democratizes campaign involvement for influencers and streamlines identification and performance measurement for brands. We bring the power of multilingual search and analytics to local word of mouth and aim to revolutionize the traditional agency model of handpicking social celebrities by optimizing workflow, ROI, measurability and predictability of influencer endorsement.

We are currently testing beta versions of a suite of B2B products (a hybrid mobile app for influencers & web app for brands, agencies and talent managers) which we need to take to the next level. We are looking for smart, independent, detail oriented techie who can “think like a user” and understands what quality tested code means.

Our vision is that it should be as easy to build a global digital marketing strategy for any brand as it is to set up an e-commerce platform. We believe that working with native speakers of a target language consumer segment is the most effective way of increasing brand awareness and sales. Couture is planning to expand in other Asian countries, Europe and LATAM.

We are based in central Tokyo and currently work with a team of 8 developers in Ukraine. Couture embodies the spirit of “Work From Anywhere”. Our DNA is per definition global. Our office is #Slack. We speak Japanese, English, French and Java, JavaScript amongst many others and dislike penguin suits. Flex time is an understatement. After a 13 year career in banking technology and consulting, starting as techie jack of all trades at French bank Societe Generale Securities, Hans decided to grab the unique opportunity to bring the world closer to Japan from a digital marketing perspective by leveraging his affinity for global consumer brands, entrepreneurship and software development skills. Hans, project delivery veteran & Goldman Sachs alumnus with extensive experience in Japan’s strict regulatory environment, calls Tokyo home since about 15 years. He holds an MA in Japanese Studies, speaks 6 languages, codes fluently in JAVA and JavaScript, loves to surf powder snow, spin electro and has a fetish for designer sneakers & architecture.


Couture should become the go-to platform for any SMB, online shop to promote products through people who like their stuff and measure conversions. We have the basic building blocks in place, the next step is to grow the user base, aggressively sell and further develop our robust API for integration with large e-commerce marketplaces and MarTech platforms.

    • You understand the definition of responsibility, accountability & are willing to take ownership of a product which aims to be the “AirBnB of influencers”
    • This role will require you to adapt to dramatically changing requirements, user feedback and market standards and implies quickly iterating to drive business; we reward dedicated workers that can think like users
    • A large part of the role will be bug fixing: extensively testing the usability of the app on both Android and iOS, ensuring that flows & UI transitions are seamless, that state is managed properly between views
    • UI design & styling, UX improvements, changing User interfaces, developing additional screens that involve graphs / statistics, subscribing to WebSocket data feeds
    • Developing UI action hooks to gather usage metrics and statistics, analyzing results and translating into actionable tasks tor UI improvement
    • Working with API vendor support (such as Stripe API) to test integrations
    • Structural modifications and integration of new components, 3rd party services: push notifications, in-app messaging, payment system integration
    • Managing the administrative process to package, obtain approval and launch mobile apps through the designated app stores
